Today at lunch, I packed up a couple of sandwiches, grabbed a couple of magazines, drove 3 minutes to the beach and spent some quality time at the beach with my 17 year old daughter laughing at some of the fashion choices in her magazine, lusting after some of the furnishings in mine and wading in the surf! Living at the beach means that moments like this can happen “on the fly!” We don’t have to plan them ahead of time and we don’t have to limit them to once or twice a year. We are lucky enough to live in Pawleys Island which means that even though it is late June, our beaches were not at all crowded and we had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy our privacy. Pawleys Island homes run from traditional style homes in master planned to communities to oceanfront homes along the Litchfield beaches and Pawleys Island, and everything in between! Pawleys Island real estate also includes condos and villas, although you won’t find nearly as many condos down here on the south end as you can find a little farther north in Myrtle Beach. Pawleys Island July 4th Celebrations!

It’s that time of year again! Pawleys Island residents and visitors are gearing up for the annual July 4th parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and if you’ve never come out for this event, you really need to! This is truly a Pawleys Island tradition and it’s alot of fun too! This year, in addition to the annual parade, four U.S. Air Force fighter jets will fly over the South Carolina Coast around 1 p.m. to celebrate our nation’s birthday. A helicopter will fly over between noon and 1 p.m. just prior to the jet’s flyover, recording video of the people on the beach saluting our soldiers overseas. That video will then be available on Facebook and You Tube for troops and the public to view. This is just one of the many reasons that Pawleys Island is a special place to live!
